Description: The Canadian Reggae Music Conference is a platform for independent music professionals, to discuss the challenges and opportunities in the Canadian Reggae Music Industry, and propose solutions to these issues. Registration for this conference is free. This is the 2nd annual Canadian Reggae Music Conference. On Friday April 27th and Saturday April 28th 2018 a global assortment of music industry professionals will convergent at the Canadian Reggae Music Conference. The Canadian Reggae Music Conference is preparing for its biggest staging to date gaining input from organizations such as Socan Foundation, Socan, Factor, Ontario Arts Council, Music Ontario, CIMA & OMDC on Friday with the lunch and learn segment; and a one on one discussion with lawyer Lloyd Standbury—entertainment lawyer, music consultant and author of Reggae Roadblocks: Music Business Development Perspective as well as Entertainment Lawyer and founding member of Jamaica Music Conference Kwasi Bonsu on Friday evening. On Saturday April 28th 2018 this importantly marks the first year of participation in the Canadian Reggae Music Conference for Penny Providence, Big 7 Promotions, Wolde Uprising, Reggae producers/promoters in Ontario, Caswell Mclaughlin - Artist manager, Ron Nelson- DJ COOL as well as Jay Douglas, Horace Martin, Michie Mee & Tasha T whom are Reggae musicians/artists in Ontario. Throughout this conference we will also be gaining knowledge from ones such as Shana McCalla & Sweet T discussing the impact of radio stations in the development of the reggae music industry, Rocco K. Achampong regarding publishing, branding, copyright, and intellectual property, as well as Donna Makeda & Natasha Von Castle regarding women in the music industry as producers, promoters, publishers, and artists/musicians.
